how to reach Sitia and the Doukas Estate   By plane there are a few possibilities: · Via Athens, either directly to Sitia or to Heraklion · There are also a lot of charter flights as well as some scheduled flights operating from April till October from most major cities in Europe directly to Heraklion By ferry-boat from Piraeus (the port of Athens): · To Heraklion (a few daily connections), or · To Sitia (a few times a week) To reach the Doukas Estate, from Sitia you take direction Ierapetra; in 3 km you find the village of Piskokefalo. Driving through the village you arrive at a crossing; you turn right in the direction to Achladia. In 1 km you see on your left the small church of Agioi Pantes and the main house of the Doukas Estate. You turn left in the small road and you come in front of the door of the estate. Although there are buses connecting Sitia with other cities, towns, villages and taxis to serve you, a car will give you more flexibility for moving around. You can hire a car in Sitia or you can book one to be collected at Heraklion Airport.
